Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in North Macedonia
North Macedonia is committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals designed to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice by 2030. The North Macedonian government integrates these goals into national policies and collaborates across various sectors to promote sustainable development.
National Implementation and Monitoring:
North Macedonia has established a framework for implementing and monitoring the SDGs:
- State Statistical Office: Monitors and reports on SDG indicators, providing data to track progress and inform policy decisions.
- Government Agencies and Ministries: Coordinate national efforts to achieve the SDGs, aligning policies and programs with the SDG framework and integrating sustainability principles into decision-making processes.
International Cooperation:
North Macedonia actively participates in international cooperation to promote sustainable development globally:
- Development Partnerships: Collaborating with bilateral and multilateral partners, donor agencies, and international organizations to mobilize resources and support SDG implementation.
- Regional Cooperation: Engaging in regional initiatives and partnerships to address shared challenges and promote sustainable development in the Western Balkans region.
