Funds and programmes carry out the UN's work on the ground. Voluntary contributions fund them, not assessed member dues. Each one targets a specific global challenge.

How Funds and Programmes Differ From Agencies
Funds and programmes report directly to the General Assembly, often through ECOSOC or the Security Council. Unlike specialized agencies, they are not established by separate treaties under UN Charter Articles 57 and 63.
Member states and donors fund them through voluntary contributions. This gives flexibility, but it also makes funding less predictable than the assessed dues that agencies receive.

World Food Programme (WFP)
WFP delivers food assistance in emergencies. It is the world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger.
UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
UNOPS manages infrastructure and procurement for UN projects. It supports peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development work.
