Women for Election Australia

Australia Needs more Women in Parliament!

While Australia has one of the highest education rates of women in the world, it currently ranks 57th in terms of women’s political empowerment (dropping from 49th in 2019). Women currently comprise 35-37% of federal parliament, state legislatures and municipal councils. Under-representation in government means that women are on the receiving end of decisions that impact them substantially but have little voice to effect change.
