Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Finland
Finland is a committed advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals aimed at addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice by 2030. The Finnish government integrates these goals into national policies and collaborates across various sectors to promote sustainable development both domestically and internationally.
National Implementation and Monitoring:
Finland has established a robust framework for implementing and monitoring the SDGs:
- The Prime Minister’s Office: Coordinates national efforts to achieve the SDGs, ensuring alignment with domestic and international sustainability policies.
- Statistics Finland: Monitors and reports on SDG indicators, providing data to track progress and inform policy decisions.
- Local Governments and Municipalities: Play a crucial role in implementing SDGs at the community level, tailoring actions to local needs and contexts.
International Cooperation:
Finland actively participates in international cooperation to promote sustainable development globally:
- Development Assistance: Providing financial and technical support to developing countries to help them achieve the SDGs.
- Bilateral and Multilateral Partnerships: Collaborating with international organizations and countries to advance the global SDG agenda.
